Param Pujya SantShri Asaram Bapu ji is a well known and a very popular among masses, raised to self realized sainthood.
Sant Shri Asaram Bapu ji represents a confluence of Karma, Gyan and Bhakti Yoga. Humans have been indulged to see and realize God face to face from a long time. The emotional and intellectual resources of humans have made numerous efforts to obtain Atman, a state of peace above all the materialistic world.
The child namely, Aasumal was born on Chaitra Vadi-Vikram Samvat 1998 in the village of Berani of the nawabshah district of the Sindh province to really blessed parents in Shri Thaumal Sirumalani and Shrimati Menhgiba.
Aasumals family migrated from the Sindh to Maninagar near Ahmedabad in Gujarat due to the partition of India and Pakistan. Aasumal used to often meditate under a tree even during his early schooldays. His interest in Bhajan and dhyaan were developed in him by his mother very early. But very early in life, his discrimination towards life increased by and far after the sad demise of his father. Asaram Bapu ji left his schooling after class X. All the mystical powers due to siddhis came to him very early, by this time. His quest for the truth of life intensified at a rapid pace. He was married to Lakshmi Devi later.
Asaram Bapu ji clearly told his wide about his disinterest in worldly samasara and wanted a free life like Buddha, Shuka and Shankara. Soon, he gave up his dominions and fled away. He went many places in search of truth. He went to Kedarnath as well, where a pujari blessed him to be a millionaire which he promptly disapproved and started worshipping again to attain God.
From here, Aasumal visited the vrindavan, beautiful land of Lord Krishna, where Asaram Bapu ji was really impressed by the preaching of Swami Lilashahaji Maharaj. He waited for nearly one and a half month to just get a glimpse of his master or gurudev. He started serving him with utmost sincerity and devotion. The young lad was made to face with many hardships from his master for a span of 30 days before he blessed him. He returned home but it was for only a short period of thirteen days. Soon, he started meditating on the banks of river Narmada at Moti Kural.
Thereafter, he indulged himself in performing a sacred Anushthan along with Swami Lalji Maharaj, a local Saint. He left for Bombay thereafter to meet his Gurudev, Swami Lilashahaji Maharaj wherein, he was blessed with the ultimate knowledge at a tender age of just 23. After a Samadhi which lasted for two and a half days, Aasumal transformed to Swami Shri Asaram ji Maharaj, when he was touched by Sadguru, Shri Lilashahaji Maharaj.
Swami ji started living life as a householder in order to provide an example to common householders with the commands of Sadguru. Bapu ji chose a place in the Motera village on the Sabarmati river bank. Soon some of his disciples constructed a room and slowly this place became a spiritual learning center and came to be known as Sant Shri Asaram ji Ashram.
